American Heritage Girls (AHG)

American Heritage Girls is the premier national character development organization for girls ages 5-18 that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement.

American Heritage Girls (AHG), a Christ-centered organization for girls, was started in 1995. Today, it has over 43,000 girls in the program. The mission of AHG is “Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.”

In AHG, the girls are given a well-rounded experience through: community service, badges work, leadership roles, and religious awards.

They learn new life skills through earning badges in 6 areas of interest called frontiers:

  • Family Living
  • Outdoor Skills
  • Personal Well-Being
  • Science & Technology
  • Heritage
  • Arts

AHG is divided into 5 levels:

  • Pathfinder (Kindergarten)
  • Pioneer (7th-8th)
  • Tenderheart (1st-3rd)
  • Patriot (9th-12th)
  • Explorer (4th – 6th)
  • *Stars and Stripes

*Stars and Stripes is the highest rank issued by AHG. Its requirements include: badges, leadership, religious awards, and a 100+ hour service project.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, the parishes of St. Martin of Tours and St. Christopher (map) charter local AHG troops in accordance with Archdiocese Guidelines and Safe Environment requirements.
